ARTIST JUMP IN

Kolgruvan is opening a new artist residency concept “Artist Jump In”. It is a unique opportunity to start, develop, expand or realise art projects in an industrial setting surrounded by a community of other cultural workers.

We are looking for artists to “jump in” and make use of Kolgruvan’s space when it is not occupied. We welcome all interpretations of creative disciplines from performance artists to craftsmen. This program will be open throughout the year, and has a particular interest in those struggling to find the space and community to develop their ideas.

Application round for July is open! Deadline to apply is June 18th 23:59.

For any questions regarding the residency please contact PR@kolgruvan.com

What do you get?

“Artist Jump In” provides each resident with over 100m2 of space for a number of days within a month. You will not be confined to this format, however, we encourage a collaborative atmosphere that could benefit our residents and you. You will get a chance to develop your art through interactions with filmmakers, designers, sound producers and carpenters.

Is there any fee?

The residency is free of charge and we ask for nearly nothing in return. Only to showcase what you have accomplished through the residency and to help us choose the next candidate. There are opportunities for exhibitions or other event formats but that is up to you.

What are our creative goals with this residency?

Kolgruvan wants to enable experimental and useful developments to practices challenged by financial or spatial pressures. This is one of the ways we hope to bring together communities of creative workers of Gothenburg and continue to contribute to the cultural landscape of the city, through facilitation, collaboration and accessibility.

So, do you want to take over Kolgruvan with your art? Do you want to explore the limitless possibilities of your craft? Apply NOW

Currently Kolgruvan Jump In is occupied by Alexander Stevenson, UK-born independent artist who uses methods of anthropology and history to situate his work within local cultures. Currently, he is working on a boat for his performative journey through Vastra Gotaland.
